After many attempts have been made to halt the aging process to no success, researchers and scientist have turned to various other methods and means of treating wrinkling and other symptoms of aging. Botox injection – this is actually a protein with the full name botulinum toxin. For about two decades now, it has been used as an injection that is applied to relax muscle contractions and erase facial wrinkles. Interestingly, it is also a poison, but since it can heal, nobody is complaining too much. Since your wrinkles form by the relationship between your facial nerves and muscles, botox interferes with them and causes a significant decline in wrinkle formation. You have nothing to fear in this regard – the procedure is FDA approved.

Hylaform injection – this is significantly not as popular, but it is gaining grounds as a cosmetic practice. It involves the use of hyaluronic acid filler as an injection into your cheeks and lips. This process is also FDA approved; the hylaform substance immediately finds with water underneath your skin and causes an instant reduction in wrinkle intensity on your features. There are side effects that you should be wary of. This anti-wrinkle treatment tends to cause redness and bruising that may last several days, especially since it is a derivative of animal chemicals.

Restylane injection – this is a similar treatment to the one described above, except that it is more popular because it mostly makes use of a non animal derivative of hyaluronic acid, which lubricates your joints and improves skin texture. Basically, the treatment is also the same as above, but its effects tend to last as long as six months to a year in some patients. Again, this procedure is not without side effects; it also causes bumps and redness, and the site of the injection may give off some sensation of pain.

Juverderm injection – this was only recently approved and there aren’t a lot of people who know about the procedure. However several medical professionals have been discretely employing it for cosmetic purposes for a while. The juverderm inject able gel once injected underneath the wrinkled skin immediately causes it to resume lost smoothness and texture, and the wrinkles immediately disappear. Thankfully, it adverse effects are not as aggressive as several of the foregoing; however, you may still have to deal with the redness and bruising.

You should have a chat with your physician about which treatment is most applicable to you as an anti-wrinkle injection; you could hardly go wrong that way.
